ART FOR MODERN ARCHITECTURE

Paper clips extracted from Ellsworth Kelly's book"Line Form Color" onto newspaper front pages
11 unique works made of 6 to 8 frames
Dimensions variable, 2004

Art for Modern Architecture is a series of collages. Cut outs taken from Ellsworth Kelly's book "Line, Form, Color" have been pasted onto the front pages of newspapers bought in the countries where MH was travelling at the time she made these works. Each work is one week. Kelly claimed that art was to be made for public spaces and buildings, thus establishing the modernist utilitarian project of art serving modern architecture. This project renews Kelly's ideas and re-elaborates them with in another medium, that of a newspaper which "architecture" frames everyday life.
